Travel to Annecy

Annecy is surprisingly close.  A 95 minute flight from London will get you to Geneva airport where a 20 minute taxi ride would get you to the door of your lakeside villa.  Alternatively, a 10 hour drive from Calais will do it.  It’s a perfect weekend break destination.
